Miss Rachel's Parties

A few people have suggested that I add some actual photographs of various birthday parties I have done to give people a better idea of some of the fun activities I have led at past parties, so take a look:

Note the "Mad Scientist" hair, white lab coat, and look of amazement on Brendon's face as the creation he has made flows through his fingers.  Remember, I provide all supplies and materials for every activity AND clean everything up at the end of the party.

Julia, the birthday girl at this party, did not want a "Princess Party" but still wanted something very girly.  I customized a party that was perfect for her.  One of the highlights was making (and eating) our own necklaces with Fruit Loops.  Fancy Shmancy!

Pyramid Solitaire

Does your child need to review his or her math facts? 

Try playing this fun card game!

Pyramid Solitaire

Shuffle and deal out the cards like this, beginning at the top of the pyramid and working your way down.  The goal of the game is to get rid of all the cards in the pyramid by pairing cards that add up to thirteen.  Kings equal thirteen and may be discarded by themselves.  Queens are twelve, Jacks are eleven, and Aces equal one.  When you are not able to make a move, pick a card from the deck of cards at the bottom.

Options:

Keep score!  Assign a point for each King and each pair of cards that equal thirteen.

Change the target number!  If working with younger children, make each face card equal ten and have them try to find cards that add up to ten.

Play with your child (or have all of your children play together)!  Each turn begins by turning over another card from the deck at the bottom and either ends there or when the player finds a card or cards that equal thirteen.
